Nutrition Education

At Pomptonian, we view the cafeteria as an extension of the classroom, where nutrition education happens naturally through our Farm-to-Tray program. Each month we feature a local fruit and vegetable, complemented by colorful, engaging flyers highlighting interesting nutrition facts. These flyers are displayed prominently in the cafeteria for students to read and learn from. Additionally, where permitted, our Farm-to-Tray program includes taste tests to give students an opportunity to explore local produce firsthand.

Our Nutrition News video series further enhances this initiative by showcasing the farms where our produce is sourced and diving deeper into nutritional benefits.

To celebrate National Nutrition Month, we host the Healthy School Lunch Challenge, inviting students to submit healthy recipes. Winners are selected across three age brackets, with the top three high school students participating in a culinary competition.
