Farm-to-School enriches the connection between communities and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools and encouraging more fresh, healthy food from local producers. Pomptonian Food Service is proud to have our own unique Farm-to-School Program. Our cafeterias feature not only local* produce, but also local milk. Pomptonian has also launched a company-wide local fruit and vegetable program. Each month, a local fruit and vegetable will be featured in our cafeterias.
By purchasing local we are supporting and strengthening our local economy. The students learn not only in the classroom, but also in the cafeteria. Farm-to-School programs influence and help develop sustainable healthy eating behaviors. When provided with wholesome, fresh produce more students demonstrate a willingness to try new foods with healthier options.
