DISTRICT’S FOOD SERVICE – WORKING FOR OUR STUDENTS!

Welcome to the Summit Public Schools Business Office

Louis J. Pepe, RSBA Assistant Superintendent for Business

Each year we strive to make enhancements that benefit the district and the students we feed. Some achievements over the course of the school year:

Progress continues in the area of food service with an effective partnership between the Pomptonian, our Food Service Management Company (FSMC) and the district resulting in continued nutritional value and impressive achievements for another straight year! 2015-2016 has yielded the following already:

  • Received recognition in this year’s Food Service Director Magazine. This poll placed Summit in the “Best Food in Schools” ranking number five in the State and number eighty-five nationally. We are very proud of this accomplishment because it highlights our dedication to high quality food and service initiatives that are the primary focus of our entire management team
  • Effectively switched to a block lunch by expanding our service area in the Gymnasium in order to serve all students in an adequate time
  • Improved service to the Wilson Elementary School by adding a server and mini serving line for the Full-Day Kindergarten classes
  • Students are pleased with the menu changes made possible by the whole grain waivers
  • Enhanced communication with parents by implementing an elementary lunch program newsletter
  • Expanded variety at the popular deli station in the high and middle school by adding home-style and spicy whole-muscle chicken fillets
  • Expanded variety on the made-to-order stations at the high school including a popular Burrito Bar
  • Continuously keep the cafeteria an interesting place to visit with homemade pasta demo days in the elementary schools, and homemade Sushi Days and Outdoor Grill Days at the High and Middle Schools
