BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Students at several Bergen County schools are expanding their taste buds.Pomptonian Food Service recently introduced a “Taste of Korea” in Northern Valley Regional High Schools, Paramus, Palisades Park, Ridgefield, Tenafly, Fort Lee, and Cresskill.

The event brings authentic Korean food and cooking techniques into schools for students to sample a variety of cultural dishes.

Pomptonian’s staff trains with Korean chefs from the Korean Cuisine Globalization Committee, a non-profit organization of Korean restaurants and related businesses on seeking to globalize the characteristics of healthful Korean cuisine.

The staff was taught how to use key Korean ingredients, common cooking techniques, the fundamental sauces that make up Korean flavors and seasonal Korean vegetables.

Students tasted beef bulgogi, tofu stew, japchae, tteok bokki and kimchi. This event has been featured in  which was broadcasted on KBTV, Korean News.
