List Ranks Hunterdon Central High School’s Food Best in the State

RARITAN TWP. — Hunterdon Central High School was selected as having the best school food for New Jersey and the third-best nationally by Food Service Director Magazine.

Best Food ranked 3,868 school districts based on 580,000 opinions from 215,000 students and parents on the quality, variety and various dietary preferences, including vegan and gluten-free, at the district they currently or recently attend or attended.

The school’s food has been served by Pomptonian Food Service since 1998. The company, based in Fairfield, is a family-owned company that focuses on “high quality, nutritious meals at an affordable price,” according to a release.

Hunterdon Central School District’s Food Service Director, Caroline DeSimone says, “We are so thrilled to rank number one Best Food in the state and not to mention number three in the country!

“This recognition is truly an honor and we wouldn’t have been able to achieve it without such great support from our passionate, and extremely dedicated team. Our talented Chef Renato is able to create outstanding, healthy options for the students, including homemade, fresh mozzarella cheese, made-from-scratch dough, and a variety of homemade calzones, caprese paninis, and vegetarian enchiladas.”

Delaware Valley High School also made the rankings at number 22.
